Band History (1997)

December 1996 to January 1997

Yellow No. 5 plays a show at the Continental Ballroom in Erie, PA
in December with the band Somber. Added to the lineup is a new
guitarist, Matt. Preparations commence for Blue Planet '97 and
several area shows.

February ??, 1997

Yellow No. 5 plays a benefit for the Crossbow bar in Cambridge
Springs, PA, which burned down earlier in the month. Although
Matt was still technically in the band, he didn't play with us
at this show.

February ??, 1997

Yellow No. 5 plays at Edinboro University with Dick's Loft.
This show is the farewell appearance of Matt.

March 22, 1997

Yellow No. 5 returns to the Cycling Troll recording studio to re-
cut "Disappear" on 16 track for the Toolcity Underground compilation
CD that we have been asked to appear on. Cost: $162.12.

March 28, 1997

Yellow No. 5 plays at the Whiskey River in Edinboro, PA, with the
bands Navin, FP503, and the Gypsy Poets.

April 5, 1997

Yellow No. 5 plays a rather... odd 4 hour (!) set at Edinboro
University. We get paid $300! Amazing, isn't it?

April 12, 1997

Yellow No. 5 plays the Blue Planet Cafe' for the third time. We
judge it as our best show to date. Nathan Gramley assists the band,
sitting in on guitar for "Paper Boy," as well as providing piano
for "Disappear," "Devo Blues," and "Drowning."

April 26, 1997

Yellow No. 5 plays a skateboard park benefit in Greenville, PA.
The show was a complete departure from our mellow Blue Planet, and
we rocked the place considerably. There was even a large mosh pit!

May 2, 1997

Yellow No. 5 plays a 2 hour set at the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fundraiser
show at Edinboro University, Edinboro, PA.

May 9, 1997

Yellow No. 5 plays a show at Gizmo's Draught House in Titusville, PA.
We opened for FP503.

May 23, 1997

Yellow No. 5 plays a show at the Market House in Meadville, PA.
It was basically another Blue Planet show, without the name.
Mike and Steve played backing rap rhythm section for our pal Roan
just prior to Yellow No. 5's set.

June 21, 1997

Yellow No. 5 plays Steve's brother Nathan's graduation party, dubbed
"Gradstock 97." Not much else to say, really.

July 11, 1997

Yellow No. 5 plays a show at Julian's Coffee House in Meadville.
A wonderful show, showcasing all of our music. Not only that,
but all of our most devoted fans showed up! Great fun.

October 24, 1997

After a long hiatus, Yellow No. 5 gets back together to rehearse
for a Halloween show at Julian's in Meadville, and also to prepare
for recording in January.

October 31, 1997

Yellow No. 5 plays a Halloween show from 7-9 PM at Julian's Coffee
House in Meadville. Since it was Halloween night, everybody was
out partying and it was a low turnout show. We had fun, though.

November and December 1997

Yellow No. 5 practices, preparing new material and old for our
second recording endeavor, to take place in February or March of
1998.

Go on to 1998 history!
