Devo Blues

Lyrics (Varies slightly from show to show, these are from April 26, 1995)

(Preparation)

This next song calls for a little audience participation.
I don't know who's all familiar with the band from the '80s called Devo,
But in this next song, if you feel like it, when I say Devo, then you say Devo.
Alright?
Okay, let's try it. DEVO!
(Audience) DEVO!!!
That's what we like to hear!
Alright, this song's called Devo Blues.

(Song)

Alright.

You know, the other night I was sitting at home, feeling sorry for myself,
you know, feeling lonely, feeling blue, I didn't know what to do, okay, so I,
I decided to get outside and take a walk, so I, I took a walk and I walked
for what seemed like hours, and I, and I came up to this little cafe' in some
strange part of town.

Well, the smell of stale cigarettes and day-old coffee hit me like some kind
of, some kind of, I dunno, but anyway, I decided to walk on in, so I, I
wandered in, and I was feeling kind of thirsty, so I, I decided to get myself
a, a cap-puchino. I had a cap-puchino, and anyway, I.

I said, I said, "Hey cat, what's goin' on?" And, a, he said, "Well, you know,
daddy-o... We got this really cool band comin' in here tonight, you ought to
stick around, and check 'em out." And I said, "Well, um, do you, a, do you
know what they call themselves?" He said, "Well, I'm not sure, but I think it
was, I think it was, I think it was..."

DEVO!

Anyway...

So I stuck around, and I checked out this band, and I watched them come in.
They looked pretty funny, I wasn't sure what to think at first, you know.
They had these funny little hats on. I dunno, but anyway.
I'll tell you though, when they hit the very first note, of that very first
song that they played, it hit me like some kind of, well it was an experience
I would never, ever forget, you know.
It rocked me, it shook me, it moved me...

And I was feeling kind of thirsty again, so I had a, a cap-puchino.
I had a cap-puchino. Alright.
You know I, I had the best time I, I met this girl there, and we danced all
night, and we, we fell in love, and I'll never forget that night, you know,
and I'll never forget that band. And, a, I think it was, I think it was, I
think it was...
